Communion flagonThis Britannia metal communion flagon comes from Greyfriars Kirk in Edinburgh. It dates from the 19th century. The flagon has a straight tapering body, a cushion foot and a domed lid with an S-scroll thumb-piece. There is beak-shaped covered spout and an S-scroll handle with a heart-shaped terminal. Opened in 1620, Greyfriars' Kirk was originally known as the 'Church of the South-west Parish of Edinburgh'. It was one of the first three Scottish post-Reformation churches, along with the Tron Kirk in Edinburgh, and Burntisland Church in Fife.
