This is the obverse of a silver medal commemorating the laying of the foundation stone of the North Bridge in Edinburgh in 1763, by Provost George Drummond.

The obverse has a representation of the bridge.

The creation of this link between the Old Town of Edinburgh and the farmland to the north enabled the building of the New Town.
