Yarn testing machine

This yarn testing machine was probably made around 1900. It was used to conduct tensile tests on cotton yarn before proofing and dyeing.

The machine is arranged for wall mounting. The dial calibrated from 0 to 20 lbs and is marked 'JOHN NESBITT LTD/ MAKERS/ 42 MARKET ST/ MANCHESTER'.
