From Poltalloch, Kilmartin, Argyllshire
This stone slab was found at Poltalloch at Kilmartin in Argyll. It is probably from a memorial stone for a grave dating sometime between 500 and 900.
The slab has an ogham inscription which possibly reads 'CRON[A]N'.
Ogham was a form of writing used by native peoples in Britain and Ireland. The letters were arranged to either side of a base line, often created by the edge of a stone.
