Ceramic pot

This ceramic pot was found at Duncraigaig at Kilmartin in Argyll. It was probably placed within the grave as an offering of food or drink, sometime between 2200 and 1800 BC.

The pot is decorated over its entire exterior surface with bands of small incised lines.

A concentration of wealthy graves have been found around the Kilmartin area in western Scotland. The graves are exceptional for their rich and exotic grave goods and for their elaborate construction. Some contained fine, often exotic, grave goods.
