Bowl

This ceramic bowl was found during excavations at the site of the Roman fort at Newstead in Roxburghshire. It was manufactured in south-eastern England between 80 and 180 AD.

Wide mouthed, grooved bowl of fine smooth black ware, from Newstead.

The Roman army obtained supplies from three zones: locally (either by the army or natives), within the Roman province of Britannia, or further afield in the Roman empire.
