Bracelet of bronzeThis hinged bronze bracelet was found near Plunton Castle in Kirkcudbrightshire. It was a high status piece of jewellery, worn between 50 and 100 AD. The body of the bracelet is made of two sections of ribbed metal, hinged together. Two bronze rectangular plates, decorated with hammered out ornament and secured by rivets, have been placed flanking each hinge. Only one hinge pin survives. The wearing of ostentatious jewellery was just one of several ways in which the elite of Iron Age Scotland displayed their wealth and power.
