This bronze sword was found when excavating an old house in Edinburgh. It dates from between 950 and 750 BC.
The sword has a long blade for slashing. There are rivet holes on the grip to secure an organic handle. Each shoulder also has unperforated depressions representing unfinished rivet holes.
Technological advances in bronze casting in the late Bronze Age resulted in new and better weapons.
