From Midlothian
This bronze sword was found in Midlothian. It dates from between 950 and 750 BC.
The sword is leaf-shaped and has a long blade designed for slashing. There is a rivet hole in each shoulder and a further two in the grip to secure an organic handle.
Technological advances in bronze casting in the late Bronze Age resulted in new and better weapons.
