From the Cabrach, Banffshire
Add to albumThis bronze axehead was found at the Cabrach in Banffshire. It dates from between 2250 and 1950 BC.
The axehead is a flat axe of a form common in the Early Bronze Age. As with most of the flat axeheads of this form, it is without decoration. It is pitted with corrosion.
Axeheads were symbols of power and prestige for a long period, probably with religious significance as well.
