Bronze axehead
Add to album

This bronze axehead was found at Inchnadamph in Sutherland. It dates from between 2250 and 1950 BC.

The axehead is a flat axe of a form common in the Early Bronze Age. As with most of the flat axeheads of this form, it is without decoration.

Axeheads were symbols of power and prestige for a long period, probably with religious significance as well.
