This porcelain cake stand, also known as a 'comport' is one of two from a dessert service made by Glasgow potters J. and M.P. Bell. The company started producing this type of porcelain service in the 1860s.

The pink and white cake stand has a foot with a circular base and is decorated with a hand-painted view of Scottish scenery.

John and Matthew Perston Bell's company became one of the biggest and best-known potteries in Scotland. In production by 1842, the Glasgow Pottery, or 'Bells' as it was more commonly known, made a wide range of wares.
