Ashet

An ashet is a large plate, platter or serving dish. This earthenware example, decorated with the pattern 'Carina' was produced by Cochran & Fleming of Glasgow.

The base is marked, 'Fleming/Glasgow' and Britannia figure/ 'C & F/England' (sic).

James Fleming became managing partner of the Britannia Pottery and from 1896 it was known as Cochran and Fleming. James's son, Arnold J Fleming, took over as sole partner in 1911 until he sold it to the Britannia Pottery Company Ltd in 1920.
