This earthenware tile was made between 1902 and 1920 by Fleming's pottery in Glasgow.
The tile has a border of blue and navy squares surrounding a painting of a three-masted galleon in full sail. It is marked 'Fleming Glasgow'.
The Clyde basin, like the Forth, was a natural location for the pottery industry, with a ready supply of coal, a growing market and good transport links.
