Add to album

This earthenware spill vase commemorates the Edinburgh International Exhibition of 1886. It was made at David Methven & Sons' pottery at Kirkcaldy in Fife.

The white glazed vase has a straight-sided body and is decorated with a pink transfer print design depicting an aerial view of the 1886 Edinburgh International Exhibition.

The town of Kirkcaldy on the north shore of the Firth of Forth was one of the major centres of Scottish pottery production. In the second half of the 19th century it had four separate factories.
