Earthenware plaque with a portrait of Robert Burns

This earthenware plaque with bust of Robert Burns dates from the late 19th century. Burns's poetry was enormously popular and his image, as the 'National Bard', was produced on many types of everyday items.

The oval plaque has a relief-moulded, naïve profile image of Robert Burns.
