This gold scarf slide was given to Keir Hardie's son by his wife as a Christmas present in 1900.
The flattened oval scarf slide has an eight-pointed star engraved in the centre of the front face. The slide is engraved `From Lillie to Jamie - / - Xmas 1900'.
James Keir Hardie (1856-1915) was a key founder of the labour movement. He was elected as the Independent Labour Member of Parliament for South West Ham in 1892 and later became chairman of the Independent Labour Party.
