MeasureThis pewter measure for half a 'mutchkin' (a quarter Scots pint) dates from around 1750. The baluster measure has a handle and a ball thumb-piece. On the top of the flat lid are the initials of a former owner, 'T.L.' Pewter was commonly used for measures and drinking vessels as it was both fairly cheap and strong enough to stand up to to the rigours of tavern life.
