The front of the circular badge has a crown and below this 'Edinr. 341'. It bears the name of the holder, Donald McGregor. There are four perforations at the sides.
Donald McGregor is a Highland name; Clan Gregor came from the southern edges of the Highlands. In the era of agricultural and industrial change in the 18th and 19th century, many Highlanders moved south to the towns and cities of the Central Belt.
