Beggar's badge

This beggar's badge is from Aberdeen. It is made of lead and dates from 1722.

The front of the circular badge is inscribed with the number 52, the date, 1722, and 'Old Abd' for Old Aberdeen. There is a pierced suspension loop at the top.

As late as 1890, Old Aberdeen was a separate burgh with its own High Street, railway, canal and public buildings.
