Add to album

This cream jug, dating from around 1740, was made by Colin Mitchell in the Burgh of Canongate, now part of Edinburgh. Mitchell was one of the finest goldsmiths in the Canongate in the 18th century.

The sides of the jug are chased and lightly engraved with leafy scrolls and naturalistic flowers and leaves.
