Made in Edinburgh
This silver teapot was made by Edinburgh silversmith Walter Crichton, in 1857-8. The bullet-shaped body is a revival of a shape popular over one hundred years before.
The body and lid of the teapot are decorated with flat chased stylized leaf and flower scrolls. The teapot has an applied cushion moulded foot.
The bullet-shaped body was popular in the mid 18th century and was inspired by the shape of the balls used in muskets or pistols at that time.
