Iron pistolThis is one of a pair of iron pistols made by John Christie of Stirling in the late 18th century. The pistol has silver inlay, a lobe butt and a Doune lock mechanism which uses a flint to spark the gunpowder. A demand from Highlanders for pistols was met in the 17th and early 18th centuries by the Stirlingshire town of Doune.
