From Keig Parish Church, Aberdeenshire
Add to albumThis pewter communion bread plate is from Keig Parish Church in Aberdeenshire. It dates from 1671 and has the maker's touch of George Rose, a pewterer in Aberdeen. Scottish pewter from the 17th century is extremely rare.
The plate is engraved with a Latin inscription: 'Hoc est corpus meum' [Here is my body]. It also bears the date, 1671, the maker's touch and the letters 'GR', probably for George Rose.
