From Lochwinnoch Parish Church, Renfrewshire
This pair of silver communion cups is from Lochwinnoch Parish Church in Renfrewshire. The cups, originally part of a set of four, were made in 1756 by John Glen, a silversmith in Glasgow.
The cups have the coat of arms of McDowall on one side, on the other a Latin inscription which translates as: 'Sir William McDowall of Castle Semple, a generous man, gave by gift these four cups for the use of Lochwinnoch Church, 1756'.
