Travelling chaliceChalices are used to hold the wine during Mass. This metal travelling example dates from the 17th or 18th century. The chalice has a baluster-shaped stem. The lower part of the bowl and stem are encircled with a flat vertical panels. After the Reformation, it was often difficult for Catholics to worship openly.
