EwerThis bronze ewer was made in North Europe in the 15th century. It was found at Urquhart Castle, near Drumnadrochit in Inverness-shire. The hexagonal ewer has a short spout with an animal head, and a handle. The lid is broken off. Dating from the 12th century, Urquhart Castle commanded a strategic position on Loch Ness and was vital to the crown's control of the Highlands.
