Tin

Commercial retail tin marked 'Bulwark, Cut Plug Tobacco, W.D. & H.O. Wills' and with a coastal scene on the hinged lid. This tin contains hemp and thread for bagpipes.

It is reputed to have been owned by Pipe Major Ronald Mackenzie of the 78th (Seaforth) Highlanders, the nephew of John Bàn Mackenzie, c. 1900.

The National Museums of Scotland purchased this item in 1988, along with a set of bagpipes that belonged to John Bàn Mackenzie, from the grandson of John R. Mackenzie of the Liverpool Scottish, who was the son of Pipe Major Ronald Mackenzie.
