This hanging entitled 'A Clean Sheet' was made of cotton, linen and polythene in 1980. It was designed by Fiona Mathison and woven by Fred Mann, Anne Wright and John Wright at Edinburgh Tapestry Co. Ltd. It formed part of the Scottish Crafts Collection, which was transferred to the National Museums of Scotland when the Scottish Craft Council was wound up.

The hanging, mostly in white, is composed of a tapestry section hanging from one polythene clothes line, and three nappies hanging from another.

Fiona Mathison studied tapestry at E.C.A. and the Royal College of Art in London. She returned to Edinburgh in 1974 to teach in the Tapestry Department in Edinburgh. She has worked on a number of projects with other artists, and exhibits regularly within Scotland and abroad. In recent years her work has moved away from traditional tapestry to explore the interaction of light on high tech semi-transparent fabrics.
