Add to album

This maiolica dish was made at Castelli in Italy between 1700 and 1763. It was painted by Carmine Gentile.

The shallow oval dish is painted in polychrome with four people making music in a pastoral setting.

Carmine Gentile worked as a decorator at Castelli for a long period. Much of his work derives from a wide source of engravings of the period. He was a pupil of Carlo Antonio Grue.
