Drug jar (1 of 2)
Add to album

This maiolica drug jar was made at Siena in Italy around 1510.

The jar is painted in polychrome with a shield of arms, grotesques, the inscription 'SAVORE' (possibly 'relish' or 'flavour') and (on the opposite side of the one pictured here) two naked men - one of them possibly Hercules - in combat.
