Trench map from World War I

Trench Map of the Beaumont-Hamel sector used by Sergeant A. Russell of the Royal Scots (Lothian Regiment), 9th (Highlanders) Battalion, dated 12 October 1916.

This map was used during the First Battle of the Somme, which was fought between 1 July and 18 November 1916. During this time the British suffered 418,000 casualties.
