MugThis earthenware mug was probably made at Rathbone's pottery at Portobello in Edinburgh. It dates from around 1820. The front of the mug is decorated with the Weavers' Arms. Below the arms are the names William Dakers, Jane Duncan and James and John Dakers followed by a verse of poetry. Good supplies of coal and clay and easy transport by sea meant that the south side of the Firth of Forth was an ideal location for potteries to develop.
