This wool holder has a transfer-printed picture of the Burns' Monument and Brig O' Doon in Ayrshire. The holder is made of wood and dates from the 19th century.

The container is in two halves.

19th-century wooden souvenirs, which were produced in vast quantities, often featured images of local views. They are a permanent record of the holiday journeys made in Scotland, and of the images which, for the holidaymakers, represented Scotland.
