Wemyss ware trayThis Wemyss ware tray was made between around 1883 and 1930 at Robert Heron & Sons' pottery at Kirkcaldy in Fife. It was hand-painted by Karel Nekola and was part of a breakfast set that also comprised a teapot, cup and saucer, sugar bowl and milk jug. The tray is hand-painted with three cockerels among grass. Heron's Fife Pottery is perhaps best known for its brightly painted, highly fashionable and expensive Wemyss Ware. The characteristic freely-painted decoration was introduced by Karel Nekola, a Czech who arrived in Kirkcaldy in 1883. Record detailsTo search on related items, click any linked text below.
