Jug (detail)

This detail shows the base of an white glazed earthenware jug made by the Britannia Pottery Company Ltd in Glasgow. Dating from between 1920 and 1935, the jug is the smallest in a set of three. It is decorated with bunches of fruit.

The maker's mark shows Britannia surrounded by the text, 'BRITANNIA POTTERY COY. LTD/GLASGOW', the pattern name, 'LANARK' and 'Made in Scotland'.

The Britannia Pottery Company Ltd bought over the business of Arnold J Fleming's Brittannia Pottery in 1920.
