This silver spoon was found in an old house in Irvine in Ayrshire in 1865. It was made between 1579 and 1581 by George Heriot, a silversmith in Edinburgh. It possibly belonged to Alexander Cunningham, son of the 4th Earl of Glencairn.

The spoon has a disc-end inscribed with the letters 'IB'. On the reverse are the letters 'AYC'. The spoon is also marked by Edward Hairt, Deacon of the Incorporation of Goldsmiths between 1579 and 1581.
