This maiolica plate was made in the workshop of Domenego da Venezia in Venice in Italy between 1565 and 1570.

The plate is painted in polychrome with the 'Triumph of Venus'. A satyr is chasing a nymph on a path and a cupid with a bow is talking to a seated female.

The plate relates to a whole series of Venetian plates decorated thematically on the subject of love showing Cupid, satyrs, nymphs and various female figures.
