Sword pommelThis bronze sword pommel was found at Culbin in Moray. It was used sometime between 600 and 800 AD. Although somewhat similar to Anglo-Saxon and Continental pommels, this example is without exact parallel and is probably Pictish. It is decorated with interlace ornament. Warfare was a regular part of life in the first millennium. Pictish weapons are depicted on sculptured stones, some of which show large battle scenes.
