This Bank of Scotland banknote for twelve pound Scots or one pound sterling is dated 24 June 1723.
The note is signed 'Geo. Falconer' and 'D.Drummond'. On the back are the words 'Payment never to be claimed from the Bank', initialled 'DM' and dated 1868.
The Union of Parliaments of 1707 imposed English currency throughout the United Kingdom but notes continued to state the value in both £ Scots and sterling until the 1750s.
