Spoon or spatula of bone

This bone spoon was found at Jarlshof in Shetland. It dates from between 100 BC and 400 AD. It could have been used to scoop food or other substances.

The spoon has a straight shaft and a flat rectangular end.

The spoon was in a rubbish heap associated with the Early Historic wheel-houses at Jarlshof.
