Add to album

This cosh dates from around 1830 and was said to have been made and carried by a man who regularly travelled between Humbie in East Lothian and Edinburgh in the 1830s.

The cosh consists of a stick made of strands of twisted fine cane originally covered with string or twine. At either end are two round pieces of lead.
