Chest, of the Edinburgh Pewterers
Add to album

This oak chest was the common box of the Edinburgh Pewterers. It dates from the 17th century and was probably made to hold the fines and fees paid by the pewterers.

The chest has ornamental iron fittings. The box has two separate locks, requiring the presence of two key holders before it could be opened.
