It was made in 1757-8 by Aymé Videau of London. Silver pap or feeding cup made by Ayme Videau, London, 1757 - 1758, used by Sir Walter Scott when a baby and presented by his mother to a Mrs Mackenzie Scott's historical novels, based on religious and political conflict and clashes between Scots and English, Highland and Lowland, astutely explained Scottish character and culture, and encouraged an heroic view of Scotland's past.
