Communion cup

This pewter communion cup comes from Lintoun, now West Linton, in Peeblesshire. It dates from 1761.

The cup has a wide deep bowl with everted rim, and is inscribed 'BELONGING TO THE ASSOCIATE CONGREATION[?] AT LINTOUN 1761'.

The Associate Congregation was one of the groups that broke from the established Church of Scotland at the original secession in 1733.
