Bowl

This maiolica bowl was made in Italy, possibly at the Castel Durante workshop of Ludovice and Angelo Piechi. It dates from between 1550 and 1565.

The bowl has a scalloped edge and is painted in polychrome with the Temptation of Adam and Eve, the serpent taking the form of a female body. Inscribed on the underside is 'hadam et hevia' ['Adam and Eve'].
