Dish

This brass dish was made in the 16th century, probably in Nuremberg in Germany. Originally a rosewater dish, it was apparently used as a church collection plate.

It is inscribed 'GOT SEI MIT UNS' four times around a boss centre.

Rosewater dishes would have been filled with water containing rose petals and placed on the dinner table so that diners could wash their hands.
