Piece of a wooden bowlThis piece of a wooden bowl was found at Ardgour in Argyll. It was made sometime between 45 and 258 AD. This picture shows the bowl from its bottom and side. The decorative tooling marks made with a knife on the body of the bowl are clearly visible. Approximately half of the bowl survives. Fine shaping of wooden objects included a mixture of techniques such as carving, whittling and hollowing, using axes, adzes, chisels, knives and gouges.
