Panel with the Royal Arms Of Scotland
Add to album

This carved wooden panel shows the Royal Arms of Scotland. It comes from Linlithgow in West Lothian and dates from the mid-16th century.

The panel shows two versions of the Royal Arms, the one below deliberately defaced. The panel combines Gothic and Renaissance features. The pillars are Gothic, the busts of warriors characteristically Renaissance.
