Add to album

This silver spoon was found at Windy Mains at Haddington in East Lothian. It dates from the late 13th century. It is uncertain where the spoon was made but it may originate from Scotland.

The spoon has a long thin stem with an acorn tip.

Kings of Scots such as David I (1124-53) encouraged Normans from England and France to settle by giving them lands. The objects made at this time show the influence of these settlers. New styles were introduced along with more sophisticated eating habits.
